In this part XL on Global conflicts under the radar, focusing on Yemen, we’re exploring one critical sector that got quite messed up in the last decade of strife and war – Yemen’s banking sector – the important clog in the economic machinery of any country; in Yemen, it’s driving the economy in two different directions- following Yemen’s North-South political divisions- undermining each other while they are at it.
Yemen has substantial reserves of metals like cobalt, copper, gold, iron ore, nickel, niobium, platinum-group metals, silver, tantalum, and zinc which are awaiting exploration because Yemen's mining industry is mostly undeveloped or under-developed. The country is known for its ancient gold mines, particularly in the regions of Hajjah and Amran. The Hadramout region reportedly has huge deposits of gold. Many foreign minerals exploration companies like Cantex Mine Development Corp of Canada, Thani Daubi Mining of UAE and the government have been involved in mining activities in Al Hariqah, Wadi, Qutabah Sharis/Hajjah area, Medden area, Al-Mahrah region and so on.

To derive ways forward, we need to take a look at the immediate humanitarian needs of the population resulting from the long conflicts and the ongoing war.
In this part on Global conflicts focused on Yemen, let’s see if we can find some peaceful solution to the Yemenese war and internal conflicts, which have set the country's social and economic development backwards by several decades. To derive way forwards, we have already figured out many of the root causes of the conflict, the players, their interests, what is at stake, and so on. Now we need to figure out whether it's possible to resolve the issues or work around them, whether the players want a resolution or keep the conflicts going, etc and also what needs to be done immediately, intermediately and long-term to get Yemen back on tracks.
